"I discovered Agi in a news article written about her in our local paper. I participated in one of her sessions in October and thus began my journey to a healthy lifestyle.
Prior to meeting Agi, I was as far from a healthy lifestyle as a person could get. As a single parent of three for more than 16 years, it was all I could do to attend to the demands of family and career. After putting in a 10 - 12 hour day at work, I came home & cooked one of a handful of quick meals. Cheap...fast...and filling was my motto. That usually didn't equate to nutrition.
Three years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer. At the same time, my children were teenagers and very good at it. Needless to say, it was a stressful time that I "ate my way through." I was already about 15 - 20 lbs overweight when I was first diagnosed. The following three years, I gained an additional 40 lbs. I weighed more than I weighed with any of my pregnancies.
Since my October session with Agi, I've gradually introduced my family to a change in diet that I believe will have long-term benefits. I cut dairy from our diets almost entirely by substituting rice milk. Our refrigerator is stocked with fruits and vegetables and little or no meat. We only eat meat about 3 - 4 days a week now. Junk food is replaced with blue corn chips, hummus, and Odwalla bars. If I get really hungry, I plop some hummus in a cabbage leaf...it hits the spot! I actually crave vegetables now.
This isn't the first time I ever attempted to adopt a healthier lifestyle, but it's the longest I've ever maintained it. Past attempts never lasted this long because the vegetarian meals were a flop and took too much time to prepare. Agi's "hands-on" technique proved doable for me. On Saturday, I do my shopping. On Sunday, I set aside about 3 hours to prepare food for the week. I make the nutritional healing broth, no-lettuce salad, Sunday dinner, and cut/chop raw vegetables to have on hand for the week. I know exactly what I'm having for dinner throughout the rest of the week. Each meal takes less than 30 minutes to prepare.
All of Agi's recipes are delicious and easy to make. When Agi creates a recipe, she is sensitive to taste and heartiness. This is important to me because I have the biggest critic living with me...my 6'2, 225lb, 16-year old son. He actually enjoys these hearty recipes and doesn't miss the meat. He eats vegetarian about 3 days a week now. Getting my son to buy into this is quite an accomplishment!
In summary, my 4-hour session with Agi changed my life. I simply follow what she shared with us in those 4 hours. Within 3 months, I lost 20 lbs. without jeopardizing my health.
